“I was thrilled to participate in the process mapping cohort. This resource has helped remove barriers and burdens to students seeking access to UMBC! This clear and concise mapping resource continues to serve as a valuable tool as I coach and manage teams in thinking about processes that impact our prospective students’ journey through the application process.”

“By engaging in the moderator cohort, it was reinforced that facilitation is a skill that must be practiced in action. A lot of times, facilitation implies that the facilitator challenges themselves in uncomfortable situations and conversations, and acts on the spot in uncertain settings. In this way, I learned to be more comfortable in my discomfort and see focus group facilitation as a personal challenge each time. I was in community with facilitators with varying focus group experiences and was able to practice facilitation skills.”

“Participating in the focus group training provided me with effective strategies to develop targeted programs and initiatives that better support the unique needs of veteran and adult learners. By understanding their perspectives, I can create meaningful opportunities that foster their academic success, belonging and personal growth here at UMBC.”
